Be kind to the animals and they will be kind to you

PETA is supposedly giving J-Lo the hardest time in the world because she wears fur. I had one of these nuts in one of my classes and they are boneheads. They have a horrible notion of what nature is like they don't think death is a part of it. Look I am not saying it is good to torture animals(I have a cat and I have only kicked it one time), I am just saying let's be a little realistic.

I like animals and think they are great. For eating. Who the hell cares if j hoe is wearing fur of a beaver or some other stupid animal. When is the last time you saw beaver on the menu of your favorite resturant or saw a beaver do something useful or cool. Death is a large part of naure and i think we should kill a few of these PETa people to show them death is a part of nature.

I think your blog is hilarious but I have to disagree. death is a part of nature, but sensless death is not. It's a waste to kill animals just for their fur--this takes them out of the food chain where they would "naturally" be. there's nothing natural about a mink farm where minks are raised just to be slaughtered for their furs. I have a big problem with ivory, endangered furs, etc. So you think it's okay to slaughter elephants to the brink of extinction just for their tusks? I don't think the argument that death is a large part of nature is a logical argument at all to support your stance that slaughtering animals for fur or tusks is ok.

How is it a waste? How do you think people clothed themselves before sewing machines? A mink farm is a mink farm. I am sure the mink's average lifespan is as long as it is in the wild. And I'm sure the mink lives a more comfortable existence on a farm rather than fighting for survival everyday. To everyone who thinks these farms of animals are horrible, an animal faces just as worse conditions in the wild. They struggle for food and never do they die peacefully. They become old, slow, and captured by a predator before natural death, and the predator usually rips them to pieces in a long drawn out death. Cows are put away with a bolt gun in 2 seconds. Animals aren't self-aware anyway.

Many of us do care very much that people are wearing furs unnecessarily. Yes, animals face natural predators in the wild who kill them for food. Humans, need I remind you, no longer need to wear furs to survive since the advent of the Industrial Revolution and things like Gore-Tex. Killing animals simply for fur is a ridiculously out-moded method of preventing hypothermia in cold climates. Unless you are an Inuit hunter living in northern Canada, there really is no excuse to wear a fur, especially for those Hollywood types who can afford to buy any modern synthetic clothing they like.

As far the comment about killing PETA supporters to show them that death is part of life, that is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. What type of logic is that, pray tell? Why don't you just kill everyone? That'll teach 'em a thing or two!

In response to your comments about beavers, they do many "cool" and useful things. Beaver ponds are natural parts of the eco system and play a role as the depositories of natural nitrogenous wastes. Old beaver ponds that fill in with silt and new soil act as natural "kidneys" that filter and percolate harmful wastes out of the environment and make deep top soil for new generations of grasslands and trees. Beavers are the only mammals other than humans to actively manipulate their environment and they are very crucial to healthy wetlands, creating crucial habitat for thousands of species.

The comments on this blog about animals, PETA-supporters, etc, are some of the most ignorant comments I have read in recent blogs. How do you know that animals have no self-awareness? Who awarded you such species knowledge?

So what does it matter to the animal what reason they are dead? Sometimes animals get killed because of a fight over a mate or because they can't keep up with the herd or they can't get food or anything. And as for your comments on whether I know if the animal is thinking, it is an ignorant one. We know what a human neuron looks like and we know what an animal one looks like. They are much less complex and also any simple psychological test will tell you animals aren't self-aware. If you're sitting in a room with a fed Lion, do you think it will worry about your life? Do you think it will ponder whether you are self-aware or not? Animals don't give a shit about us, why do you give a shit about them?

hahah. for me, just as long as I don't have to be the one killing the animal or plucking their furs, it's ok.

but I don't like to eat meat.

Your argument against peta is pathetic. I am very aware of the natural cycle of animals; however humans have a mental capacity that allows them to feel compassion. Your lack of empathy is tragic! Your arrogance is disgusting!

Well then where does it stop? I mean you're killing living things when you brush your teeth, take a shower, fight disease. What living beings are we allowed to kill, could you give me your line of reasoning and then maybe I can tear apart your shitty arbitrary line that we can't cross.
